Summary:

In the service of HDC leadership, HDC Policy & Analytics provides policy advisory, financial and data analytics, and operational planning services to increase HDC’s capacity to build and preserve affordable housing and advance the life outcomes of residents living in HDC housing.  The Data Analytics Intern will support the Policy & Analytics team’s data analytics work.

The Data Analytics Intern will support the Policy & Analytics team’s financial and data analytics work by providing quantitative analytical support to inform decision-making on new proposals, legislation impacting housing, policy plans, and business processes.

Internship Stipend                           $ 4,480 (dependent on confirmation of work schedule)

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Execute data cleaning, analysis, and visualization in Excel and R as needed for various projects. 
  • Extract data housed in HDC’s enterprise data systems and prepare it for analysis.
  • Assist in the design of model shells and data collection tools in Excel.
  • With the support of the Policy & Analytics team, plan data analyses and communicate findings. 
  • Undertake special projects/initiatives as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a BA or BS. This internship is open to all majors but see “preferred qualifications” below for coursework areas most relevant to this opportunity.
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Introductory coursework in statistics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate coursework in statistics, econometrics, math, data science, or computer science
  • Experience coding in R (Tidyverse), Python (Pandas), or other data analysis software (e.g., Stata) is helpful
