Manager of Loan Servicing

Position Summary:

The Manager of Loan Servicing reports to the Vice President of Loan Servicing. This position is accountable for facilitating and evolving process improvement efforts within Loan Servicing. This role will manage the loan servicing team and functions to deliver efficient collections, escrow, and cashiering operations.

Salary Range:     $90,000 to $100,000 annually

Location:             NYC/Financial District


  • Operate as a subject matter expert regarding Loan Servicing processes, providing an escalation point for issue resolution 
  • Understand and interpret mortgage loan and insurance documents 
  • Review new loan set up in the system databases per the loan documents
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on required loan compliance regulations, develop and implement current regulatory requirements into Loan Servicing Procedures.
  • Oversee processing of loans and escrows, payoffs, and insurance
  • Analyze processes and workflows to enhance efficiencies, timelines, and delegation of duties 
  • Establish processes and procedures to ensure HDC’s housing portfolio is properly and currently insured and to review staff’s premium payments to ensure accuracy
  • Review Loan Servicing staff assignments and train new staff
  • Set operating performance metrics and standards for speed and quality within the department
  • Lead employees to meet HDC's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment
  • Maintain a productive business relationship with internal partners
  • Develop training and communication mechanisms that inform the team of regulatory requirements and updates
  • Help research, analyze, and implement business process alternatives relating to Loan Servicing functions
  • Help identify obstacles and barriers that slow down meeting deliverables within the established timeframes
  • Establish partnerships and collaborate with other departments in the organization to identify and resolve issues that lead to efficient loan servicing operations
  • Adapt process improvement methodology to Loan Operations
  • Promote opportunities for automation, process design, and implementation planning 
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or another relevant field
  • Minimum 7+ years in loan operations and/or credit administration in the banking industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience
  • Knowledge of loan documentation requirements, state and federal regulations, and bank policies and procedures
  • Skilled at organizing and leading projects and initiatives; comfortable working under pressure in a changing environment to meet varying deadlines, working independently and collectively within a diverse team environment.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work; develops innovative approaches and ideas; Presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical approaches to address challenges
  • Interpersonal development skills including coaching, developing, team building, and leading staff
  • Excellent technical skills with Excel and experience in Oracle, Benedict, or other loan servicing systems preferred.
  • Insurance knowledge or experience 
  • Knowledge of FHA, Fannie Mae, and/or Freddie Mac loan Servicing
