Oracle Apps Database Administrator (DBA)

Position Summary:

The Oracle Apps Database Administrator (DBA) reports to the Vice President, Enterprise Architecture, and is responsible for all mission-critical Oracle and SQL server environments providing support for development, testing, and production environments. The DBA also provides strategic direction to HDC by researching, testing, and implementing new technologies and system architectures.

Salary Range:       $110,000 to $130,000 annually 

Office Location:  NYC/Financial District

Job Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge in Oracle Database 12c/19c, ERP 12.2
  • Manage all aspects of database, storage, and instances on both on-premises and cloud platforms in the Azure and Oracle cloud.
  • Perform system administration, including daily maintenance, system monitoring, problem resolution, tuning, uptime, security.
  • Coordination of the database and application upgrades on both Oracle Enterprise Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Cloud instance/storage design, provisioning, and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor and maintain database security and database software. 
  • Automate routine tasks with scripts and open-source tools. 
  • Provide support for the production and test environments.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with internal IT partners and HDC non-technical end-users to ensure system understanding and compliance. 
  • Perform system backup and recovery (including Oracle RMAN) to cloud storage.
  • Perform root cause analysis of production-related database issues.
  • Test, validate, and implement performance and resource solutions.
  • Create, document, and implement the standard, secure, high-performance configurations for all Oracle database installs.
  • Create, distribute, and enforce standards for user account, group, and database security and configuration for all production databases and for non-production databases that may contain PII or other security-sensitive data.
  • Be “on-call” for production databases on a rotation basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Oracle E-Business Suite financial applications 12.2.5 and above, including installing, cloning, upgrading, system administration, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in architecting and managing Azure SQL Server database instances such as SQLMI.
  • Expertise in provisioning both IaaS and PaaS SQL and OCI instances. 
  • Scripting abilities with good knowledge of power shell scripting.
  • Strong Linux system administration, security architecture, and design, data security and encryption, database security, monitoring, auditing, and operations.
  • Knowledge of on-prem to cloud migrations.
  • High level of proficiency with database tuning tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Oracle and SQL database monitoring tools in cloud as well as physical environment installations. 
  • Experience in backup and recovery. 
  • Working knowledge and implementation of disaster recovery solutions for all database systems to ensure business continuity.
  • Ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.
  • Superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Aptitude to pick up new technologies and trends as they become relevant for the business and our platforms.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and experience. 
  • Five or more years of Oracle and MS SQL DBA experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure and Oracle Cloud Computing concepts.
