JOHN A. CROTTY AS CHIEF OF STAFF
OF THE NEW YORK CITY
HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

New York, NY - Housing Development Corporation (HDC) President Emily Youssouf announced today the appointment of John A. Crotty as Chief of Staff of the New York City Housing Development Corporation. HDC is a public benefit corporation established to finance the creation and preservation of affordable housing throughout New York City. Through the Mayor's New Housing Marketplace Plan: Creating Housing for the Next Generation, HDC has committed $500 million to finance 17,000 units of affordable housing over the next five years.
Prior to joining HDC, Crotty served as the head of City Legislative Affairs in the Office of the Mayor where he acted as the primary liaison between the City Council Members and the Bloomberg Administration.
"John brings to the Corporation an intrinsic knowledge of New York City affairs and a resourceful managerial style that will assist us in fulfilling our increasing production demands," stated HDC President, Emily Youssouf. "We are very excited to have John join as Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President. This will complete HDC's Executive Staff."
"It has been a great honor over the last two years to work with this Administration and the City Council on legislation that will leave a lasting and positive mark our City," said John Crotty. "I am grateful for the opportunity HDC represents and I look forward to helping make the Mayor's housing plan a reality."
In addition to his role as the Chief of Staff, Crotty will also serve as the Executive Vice President. In that position, Crotty will oversee the corporation's Public Affairs, Human Resources, Management Information Systems, and Office Services departments.
Crotty's appointment is subject to approval of HDC's Members. A meeting of the Members is scheduled to occur in mid-April and Crotty is expected to begin his role at HDC shortly thereafter.
