2007 Excellence in Historic Preservation - Judge's Award

90 West Street, originally designed by Cass Gilbert and erected in 1907, stands among New York City’s finest buildings. This building was damaged on September 11th, 2001. With the oversight of architect Peter Levenson, this 23-story gothic revival skyscraper was meticulously preserved to maintain its striking façade. HDC utilized Liberty Bonds to finance the majority of the repair and conversion costs. 90 West Street was designated a landmark in 1998 by New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission.

2006 Award of Excellence in Rental Housing: Preservation and Development

As result of HDC's innovative financing, The Progress of Peoples' Developments received further recognition at NCSHA's annual conference.


 New York State Association  for Affordable Housing
2006 Innovator of the Year Award

HDC President Emily Youssouf presented this award to the Peoples' Development Corporation for the Progress of Peoples' Development at NYSAFAH's Annual Conference.

Through HDC's new 202 Preservation Program the rehabilitation and refinancing of this project  was able to take place on a large scale - 998 apartments in 10 buildings for low-income seniors widely dispersed throughout Brooklyn and Queens.

2004 Award of Excellence: Encouraging New Production

HDC's Mixed-Income Program received national recognition when it won this award during NCSHA's annual conference.



 New York State Association  for Affordable Housing
2005 Innovator of the Year Award

HDC President Emily Youssouf, along with Ron Moelis, principal of L&M Equity Participants were presented this award in conjunction with The Aspen, the City's first Mixed-Income, 50/30/20.  HDC's program provided L&M with the financing necessary to construct this development.



 National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies
2005 Meritorious Achievement Award

HDC's Mitchell-Lama Preservation Program won this award for achieving great strides in the preservation of existing affordable housing.

63 Wall Street, the former headquarters of Brown Brothers Harriman, won this award for Best Historic Rehab. Located in Lower Manhattan, Liberty Bond financing was used to transform this building  into a luxury residential development.
